SpiceJet is India's second-largest low-cost airliner. It has been voted as the best low-cost airliner in South Asia and Central Asia region by Skytrax in the year 2007. Its main base is at New Delhi in India. SpiceJet brings a wide range of easy-on-the-pocket services for travelers this time on.Earlier known as Royal Airways, SpiceJet reincarnated from ModiLuft. Now, the project is being promoted by Ajay Singh, Kansagra family and Sanjay Malhotra. SpiceJet started its operations in May 2005.
The main hubs of SpiceJet are Chhatrapti Shivaji International Airport, Mumbai, Chennai International Airport, Chennai, Indira Gandhi International Airport, New Delhi and Netaji Shubash Chandra Bose International Airport in Kolkata. Focus cities for SpiceJet remain to be Ahmadabad Bangalore and Hyderabad.Shortly, SpiceJet is all set to purchase new passenger aircrafts from Boeing as a part of its capacity- expansion. Currently, it operates 125 flights daily to more than 18 key destinations in the country. The carrier is likely to begin its international operations in 2010.
Recently, SpiceJet names their aircrafts after Spices.Lately, some buzzes about to be taken over of SpiceJet by Jetlite were underway. One of the leading newspapers said that SpiceJet had been asked by its investors to scour for acquisitions in the Indian market or go into an operational tie-up with the budget carrier. But still its head-honchos rhetorically thwart, and bid fairs instead of doing much better than had been expected.
Greatly, SpiceJet is growing much stronger despite current market cues. It offer a low-hanging fruit, travelers can get it from anywhere in the money market. SpiceJet remains no more a pretty-penny now on. Make a better fist of SpiceJet. It's truly amazing.
